Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day! Today is a day that some people LOVE and some people loath, while others just think of it as another day like any other day.  I personally don't think any gifts are necessary on this day as a personal preference, but I use this day as a reminder to myself of how important it is to LOVE everyday.  Not necessarily to love a person, but to love art, architecture, nature, and the many wonderful things God has given us on this Earth.  I personally am thankful for and LOVE my clients, those that entrust me with capturing their family memories.  I am thankful for the awesome City of Pittsburgh and all the beauty that surrounds my family in this amazing city.

So today, on they Valentine's Day, I hope you experience love in some shape or form and I hope you are surrounded by love everyday.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

February Photo Challenge - Rock the Shot

This month's photo challenge on Rock the Shot is LIFESTYLE, the art of everyday life as they put it. I love this Challenge, and my organic photography shooting style is LIFESTYLE, fun, in the moment, usually full of emotion or capturing a moment.  My submission is the picture below with a mother and child holding hands walking.

Photography

The image below is one I took several years back of my daughter.   It was this series of photos that I took from her that made me dive into photography head first.  At the time I had been desperate to get some beautifully captured photos of her.  I had tried the traditional "Portrait" studios that everyone has tried at least once, and always left feeling irritated.  I had hired a "Professional" photographer for my daughter's newborn pictures, which although I really did love the images that the photographer created, I was very upset with the customer service aspect of the experience.  It was at that time that I decided I wanted to learn everything I could about photography in the hopes of avoiding drama and creating beautiful images for myself.  The more I learned the more I knew I wanted to keep learning and keep creating.  I would say that all my photographs have a LIFESTYLE aspect to them, even the High School Senior pictures and portraits that I take for my gorgeous High School Senior clients.  Here is one of the first pictures I took after diving into photography.

Photographer

I took that with my kit lens on my first DSLR camera a Nikon D60.  I placed my two year old in my tulips and said "Honey, you want to smell the flowers?".  :)

Today I use a Nikon D600 camera with a variety of lenses.  The picture below is a more recent picture of my sweet girl taken in my grandparents backyard while watching her and her cousin play in the tree.

Photographer

I truly love Portrait photography, and taking child portraits is always so much fun.  As a photographer who knows the frustrating side of being a consumer/client, my goal is to provide each of my clients the very BEST customer service that you can get from a photographer, I want LOYAL returning customers, not just satisfied customers.

Thank you for reading!  Make sure to stop by the Rock the Shot Forum and look at all the other submissions.  They also have tons of great photography information on their for anyone wanting to learn more about this amazing art and craft.

January Photo Challenge

Many of you know already that I am a member of the Rock the Shot Forum, and think it is a great community to be a part of if you have any interest in Photography.  Every month they host a challenge, and one of my new years resolutions is to enter every month.  Not only are they fun, but I think challenges help you push yourself.  This month the theme of the challenge is to look back on 2013 and find your favorite image.

This is always a hard one for me, as I believe it is for any photographer, since we put so much of ourselves into every photograph we take, and have a personal connection to them all.  However, that being said….

Here is my Favorite Photo of 2013:

Harley Davidson Portrait

This photo was taken out at Mingo Creek Park in PA.  They have this beautiful red covered bridge out there that I really loved.  I was photographing this couple with their kids as part of a family session, but since the dad had his Harley, I wanted to make sure to get a cool, sexy, couple's portrait for them.  Although, I love how their whole family session turned out, I am particularly thrilled with this picture of this beautiful couple of 10 years.

Thanks Rock the Shot for this opportunity!!

How much do you charge???

Have you noticed that I do not put "prices" on my web page, but I put your "investment" choices?  That is because the portraits and images I create are not just an item you can buy at any number of stores, but it is a unique, beautiful, expression of life at that moment.  It is an investment that you will love everyday, every time you look at it.  The portraits I hang in my office and in my home make me smile and bring me great joy every time I look at them, and that is what you will get when you choose Strawberry Snails Photography, Pittsburgh's Portrait Photographer, to photograph you.  From the session experience, to the prints, to even the frame you use to hang the image on the wall, I will help you choose the perfect way to show off your spirit.

"Yes, that is all nice and great, but come on, how much will it cost????" you say…well for those who want the facts straight and up front without haggling and having to spend a half hour on the phone with the photographer just to find out they will not be a good fit for you, I give you your investment options up front, and I am happy to say my session fees are not increasing this year, in fact I am going to give you MORE for your money! With every full session ($150 fee) I am giving you a $30 print credit and a mini album, that is a $50 value added. It is important to me that my clients get their images printed, and I want you to have the best quality prints that will last you a lifetime.  For those who take advantage of my petite sessions ($89) I am giving you a $20 print credit.

Please, please don't let your precious images sit on a disk, or on your computer; have them printed. Technology may change, devices may fail, and you could loose memories forever.

If you have your memories printed on high quality paper, your images will be around for generations and you will be able to display them with pride.
