About 16 years ago, when I had just gotten out of college (okay...now you can figure out my age) I lived for about 9 months in San Antonio with my amazing grandparents. I was trying to figure out what my next step in life would be. I had gone to Stephens College in Columbia, MO and majored in dance performance with a minor in childhood education. While in San Antonio I started performing at a local theater, the Josephine Theatre, and it is there that I met the amazing musician Ruben V. Through the years I have enjoyed listening to his music, catching a live show occasionally and watching him continue to bless those around him. The thing about Ruben that struck me the most when I first met him and that continues to impress me to this day is his compassion towards others. He makes a point to help others, inspire others, and to do kind acts of charity whenever he can. He and his family are always looking out for those less fortunate.
So when I had a recent trip to Texas come up, I had an idea to do a three part photo shoot with Ruben and his family. Ruben's wife Cale is equally as kind and sweet, she is beautiful, and has a heart of gold, in addition they have two fantastic gorgeous kids. I wanted to do a lifestyle shoot with the V family, a behind the scenes day in the life shoot with Ruben, and then end with shooting one of his live shows. Unfortunately due to some other circumstances surrounding my trip home I was not able to complete the first two parts of my vision. I was however, able to escape for a little bit one night and capture Ruben V performing at The Grill at Leon Springs. Below are the pictures from that fun night. As you can see Ruben puts on a great show. If you ever get the chance... go see him!! But for those of you who are out of state like me check out his music on iTunes or his website www.rubenv.com. Enjoy the pictures, and let me know what you think. This was my first time photographing in this low of light with this type of subject....so be kind. ;)
